There’s nothing like being there

Last week, I exhibited at the Ohio Credit Union League conference in Columbus, Ohio. So far, we’re still the only credit union focused vendor with a giant pink fuzzy monster.

I gave away a few hundred brightly colored fuzzball monsters along with a monster family door prize, talked with lots of great people, connected with several other companies that also serve the credit union movement, generally raised awreness of iDiz, Inc. websites and marketing, and (hopefully) made a few connections with potential clients and partners.

Credit union people are really cool

This can’t be my imagination, right? I’ve spent pretty much my whole career in the credit union movement, and overall it’s just plain jam packed with interesting, motivated, incredible people. The conversation was interesting whether we were talking shop in the exhibit hall and hallways, over lunch, or at the after parties. We all have a lot in common, so I guess it’s inevitable that we’d get along so well.

Call it mojo, motivation, enthusiasm, spark, or whatever, but every credit union event seems to take on an almost infectious tent revival atmosphere. And we bring that that energy and enthusiasm back to our daily work. I think a lot of people end up in the credit union movement almost by accident, but we stick around because we believe in the credit union mission. Although travel, setup, teardown, learning and schmoozing can be physically exhausting, they’re also revitalizing for the mind and spirit.

The Sixth Principle is alive and well

In case you don’t have the core credit union principles memorized, the Sixth Principle is “cooperation among cooperatives”, the idea that credit unions support each other and the movement instead of competing. What I’ve learned over the years is that this principle works well when extended to those of us who support the credit union movement as well. Half the fun of a big conference like this is finding out what other folks are doing for credit unions and finding ways to collaborate and cooperate.

See you in Wisconsin in May!

The next iDiz Inc. road show is at the Wisconsin League Convention in Madison, Wisconsin May 13-15 2026. Look for the giant bright pink hairy monster and say “hello”!
